The Happiest Sorrows

At times our flesh adorned with scars that could signify being to hell and back.
a meager toll to feel an instant of true love surge through our very existance.
For every potent tear that cascades down a trembling cheek
may ten thousand kisses fall upon the lips of a lover.
The dichotomy that defines us or tortures us.
Make no mistake this is a choice.
I refuse to allow any pain to distract me from the certainty of joy and the permanence of love.
Each time we open our eyes to a new day, a chance to honour our pain, acknowledge the suffering...
but to decide to create, to embrace choice....to understand that the best reason to survive
is to thrive.

The Wisdom of the Heart.

A student of life;
always wanting to be better, more intelligent.
In many ways... my truth, my love, my joy I allowed all of these to be buried
leagues beneath a mountain of ideas and concepts deemed worthy by another.
Lessons from my heart resonate.
My values and dreams reside there.
A wiser man I may not be for choosing to follow my heart..
but
I am a joyful human, grateful for the opportunity of life

A wonderful teaching III- Internal Fire

There is an elemental stereotype which I believe to be quite unjust.
Throughout history fire has often conjured a fear response  from within the hearts of men and women,
an unfair characterization.
Hephaestus; God of fire, the only God to appear ugly and lame, despite his staggering power.
I believe that as compassionate and intuitive beings we ought to aspire to overcome this fear and progress into a place of respect where fire is concerned.
Fire is beautiful, powerful and magical.
As with most things, the primary reason for the existence of fear is msiunderstanding or indifference.
The Sun's essence is Fire.
This magnificent celestial body provides light and warmth for every living creature on our planet,
further supporting the need to cast off fear of this miraculous element and move into a place of respect and gratitude.
Similarly, every soul has a flame within them burning continuously.
The fires of passion illuminate the darkest corners of our being, banishing our fears if we are only willing.
Love, never equated with cold but warmth, can feed that furnace deep within us all.
Indeed, surrendering to an authentic kiss can cause a joyous inferno.
The warmth of this fire not only empowering us, but those outside ourselves.
All we require is some understanding and respect.
The only thing we risk burning are antiquated notions of self and some manipulative fairy tails of misplaced danger about this elemental beauty.
Potential is limitless within the embrace of freedom and knowledge.
From this place we are able to rise up like the Phoenix, excited about a new existence,
one grounded in truth and understanding.

A wonderful teaching - II

Powerful cyclones of breath are conceived within my lungs.
These organic winds are not destructive,
but rather life giving, nurturing my soul and empowering my physical body.
Precious energy radiates to the most remote regions of my body
with every inhalation.
My memories, dreams and sorrows all surrender to the cool healing internal breeze.
Calm and quite, a rejuvenating rhythm finds its own  existance next to my heart.
All my brothers and sisters surround and support me, and I them.
As my breath becomes serene so to does mind
Often behaving as a young child, willful and mischievious in need of discipline and love equally.
Placid thoughts
they both exist because of my breath and collaborate with it.
My consciousness enlightened through the gift of air
begins to realize that a lifetime can transpire between two breaths
Within this community of souls that choose to honour mind, body and soul
Breath is the offering we extend to ourselves
Our bodies reward us through through a higher state of awareness
and the windows of our hearts opened wide now to let a greater amount love in.
My community of Yogis; a family of believers that love one another.
This belief is in ourselves as well as the livng things around us.

The song unheard

Your heartlight half-lit,
as the rusty old lantern hanging out on the porch.
Gasping for that last swallow of kerosene.
A hopeless effort in the wee hours of the morning, to flicker just a little longer,
to continue to dance under the twilight endlessly.
I slide into pity.
I have far more insight into singing the ballad that has no audience... far more insight than I care to.
What storms from within the centre of your heart have pulled you off course? Away from me
Once I sighed in warm confience, feeling each of our spirits moored securely to the tender fortitude of our love.
But now, where have you gone that you are so far?
not able to hear the symphony of passion rising to serenade you form the depths of my soul.
It feels as though my longings may be anchored to futility.
How painful to tell a loving story, with nobody listening?...
Did it ever exist?
The only evidence of our love; eyes as red as burning embers,
dry and salty creases down my face where rivers of tears raged violently.
I may never sing again.

Electric Sky

Cascading down through an onyx sky
like the phosphorescent root system of a divine flower from the gardens of Valhalla,
a rare display of the powerful relationship between the elements.
As if a cantankerous child, the fingers of light prod at the apron of Mother Earth.
Paradoxical magic is lightning.
Its essence of electricity, both powerful and dangerous.
Effortlessly illuminating the blackest oceans of sky in an instant,
then vanishing, waiting, patiently and quietly in the darkness to strike again.
Buzzing with the seduction of power and provocatively smelling faintly of danger
radiant arteries surge across the horizon daring any man to capture the elemental divinity.
Zeus himself, God of Gods singularly, has dominion over lightning
employing its power as fiery spears of judgment to reign upon the unjust.
I stand in awe of its colossal brightness and beauty,
I kneel in respect of its destructive power.
May my life's indiscretions be not so offensive as to anger the heavens,
for one touch from these tentacles of brilliant light would certainly extinguish my own.

A wonderful teaching *1st of more pieces centred on Yoga*

My breath the invitation I extend to the world outside myself.
Life filling my lungs,
Love filling my heart.
My mind though powerful, resigns itself to rest,
as the elementally spiritual parts of my being
 awaken to the universe
and the possibilities within it revealed to me
through my practise.
Worry slips away as ice on peaked rooftop on the first warm morning after a storm.
Through the compassion learned in practise I see my truest self...the energy, and the love within me
reaching ever outward.
I honour what my Yoga practise allows me to release and forgive every day.
But with enormous passion and joy
I celebrate the sight Yoga has restored to me,
I become more everyday,
My energy larger, but softer
The spaces between myself and all living things getting smaller,
while my consciousness grows continuously.
